Eye on America

Roy Stryker was the force behind the 1930s FSA photography project that led to Walker Evans’ and Dorothea Lange’s iconic images. In the 1940s, he worked with Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (later Exxon) on his continuing mission to picture America. In this 1995 story, State of the Arts meets two of the photographers Stryker hired: Louise Rosskam (1910-203) and Sol Libsohn (1914-2001). Both lived in Roosevelt, New Jersey.
