New Stage for a City

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) opened in 1997 in downtown Newark. It was a dream project that had been in the works since Governor Kean’s administration in the 1980s. New Stage for a City tells the story of NJPAC’s development and construction, and of the hopes and dreams of the people who made it happen.

New Stage for a City premiered on NJN Public Television in 1997, and was seen nationally on PBS. The documentary was produced by Marc Fields.
