Description

Born in Passaic, Robert Smithson co-founded the “Earthworks” movement of the 1960s, and he remains a pivotal figure in art history. State of the Arts follows the voyage of Smithson’s “Floating Island to Travel Around Manhattan Island”, a scaled-down Central Park pulled along the Hudson River by a tug boat – one of the artist’s many unrealized concepts.

Produced by Christopher Benincasa for State of the Arts.
