Meet the exciting  new music director of New Jersey’s premier orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony. Xian Zhang takes up her new post in the fall of 2016, but already has a long and warm relationship with the orchestra. The Chinese-born conductor has worked with major orchestras throughout the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Amsterdam Concertgebow, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and countless others. She was the unanimous choice of NJ Symphony musicians, board members and community representatives. The orchestra’s 14th music director will be the first woman to hold the position.
